Ultra-Trail Cape Town
Ultra-Trail Cape Town (UTCT) is South Africa’s biggest trail race and one of the most popular trail races on the Ultra World Tour Circuit. I’ve supported and run the race (65km) and when the opportunity came to take on the UTCT Media for their 2020 Special Edition event; I jumped at it.
My responsibilities included all the social media, race weekend coverage and email marketing. I also handled all the opening of entires for the Special Edition event which sold out in less than 48 hours.
With no international elites racing at the event this year; I used the opportunity to shift the focus to the local trail community; which was really well received. I also focussed on telling local trail and history stories; celebrating the heritage of the mountain. These posts were particularly well received by the audience.
In the build up; I also ran a competition with some of the race partners; to increase the brand visibility. See the posts below.
For race day; Instagram Stories and Twitter was used for blow-by-blow; about 10 key posts went out on all social feeds, and I had a runner on the trails, filming and interviewing runners for IG story content.
